ELLIE GOULDING
High Note CONCERT
June 6, 2025 · New Theatre Oxford · Oxford, United Kingdom
Selected under the High Note Global criteria for artists whose body of work advances human dignity, music icon and climate advocate Ellie Goulding headlined the 2025 Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Concert — the cultural centerpiece of the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit at the New Theatre Oxford.
Presented by High Note Global in partnership with United Nations Human Rights, the University of Oxford, and the Recording Academy, the evening honored Climate Champions around the world and paid tribute to environmental defenders who lost their lives protecting the planet. Acclaimed actor Eloise Sheffield gave a stirring dramatic reading in honor of South African activist Fikile Xhakaza Ntshangase, murdered for opposing a coal mine near her community. Steve Hay brought to life the story of Juan López, the Honduran advocate silenced for standing against environmental destruction.
The program also featured Mo Brings Plenty — the renowned Yellowstone actor and direct descendant of Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse — who spoke with quiet force about the global impact of climate change on Indigenous peoples and the enduring wisdom they offer as guardians of the Earth. Rising artist Essence Martins delivered a moving opening performance.
The evening opened with remarks from Right Here, Right Now Founder David Clark, Oxford Vice-Chancellor Irene Tracey, and UN Human Rights' Astrid Van Genderen Stort. It closed with Ellie Goulding's intimate and stunning set — music and message woven into a single reminder that the fight for climate justice is not only about saving the planet, but about safeguarding our shared humanity.
The Ellie Goulding High Note Concert was presented by the High Note Global Initiative.
